CT4: Biomass Mobilisation and Sustainability

Core Theme 4 focuses on policies and measures to achieve a more efficient and increased mobilisation, use, production and trade of sustainable biomass sources, as well as measures for the sustainability of biomass produced and used. The Core Theme discusses, among others, strategies for mobilisation and efficient use of biomass, sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions saving criteria for agriculture and forest biomass and verification of compliance with the sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions saving criteria.

This Core Theme addresses Art. 3 (Binding overall Union target for 2030), Art. 26 (Specific rules for biofuels, bioliquids and biomass fuels produced from food and feed crops), Art. 29 (Sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions saving criteria for biofuels, bioliquids and biomass fuels), Art. 30 (Verification of compliance with the sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions saving criteria), Art. 31 (Calculation of the greenhouse gas impact of biofuels, bioliquids and biomass fuels), Art. 32 (Implementing acts), and relevant delegated acts, as appropriate.
